What is a good career path for a person who likes to research information, organize it, and write about it?

Technical writer was the first thing that came to mind; this is NOT JOURNALISM. Some of the "writing" you describe could be within an advertising/marketing dept. or web development portion of an IT concern or dept in a larger organization.
