I am looking to buy a new car. Can nebody tell me what to do if i have bad credit and need financing?

I have money to put down, and probably have a co-signer. However, I want to see if I can get financed before I get the car. If there is a place to research this or something like that and it isn't a scam I would like to find it. THANKS
